Intercultural Development for Teams
Intercultural development combines self-knowledge, interpersonal engagement, and intercultural knowledge to enhance the ability of individuals and teams to engage in culturally diverse environments. Based on the framework of cultural humility, and drawing on insights from the Intercultural Development Continuum, workshops integrate theoretical foundations and provide opportunity for application (3 hours- 2 days).
Workshops are tailored to the needs of your group/organization. Tailored formats include:
- Intercultural development for educators.
- Intercultural development for student leaders.
- Faith-based intercultural development.
Workshop packages may also include individual Intercultural Development Inventory and/or Emotional Intelligence inventories and debriefs for your team.
Tutor Trainer Development
With seven years of experience training postsecondary tutors, and five years co-facilitating tutor trainer development workshops, I offer facilitated training to educators in shaping a tutor training program that meets the needs of your organization. Trainees are provided a comprehensive set of tutor training materials that can be adapted to your needs. This workshop can be offered in online and in-person formats (10 hours + participant independent learning time).
Supporting Multilingual Writers
Are you seeking strategies for supporting multilingual English language learners in your classes? This workshop outlines concrete methods to support developing writers based on genre theory and academic literacies. The workshop also addresses common dilemmas encountered when teaching English language learners and strategies for providing effective feedback.
Adult Education Basics for Community Educators
This workshop is intended to support new and continuing volunteer educators in community organizations (e.g., non-profits, charities, faith-based contexts) who deliver educational programs to adults. Many potential volunteer educators (e.g., tutors, small group leaders, community class leaders) feel unsure of how to best engage adult learners in respectful and relevant ways. This workshop introduces volunteer educators to fundamental principles of andragogy (adult learning) and a practical model for designing programs and lessons relevant to their context.
